The water:
Perfectly colorless with reflections. Perfectly odorless. Perfectly balanced and neutral taste for the minimum amount of minerals. Strong clear trend.
Consumed in purity it is an excellent thirst quencher and we clearly recommend this water with food as its neutrality makes it a perfect companion. It doesn't mask the flavors but enhances them and clears the palate.
The water is pure and incredibly light, it springs from Fonte Santa Barbara. It comes from Mount Pigna, 1460m above sea level, in an unpolluted environment and far from possible sources of pollution. Its pH at bottling is 6.7.
The history:
Legend has it that around 1900 a miner discovered a water vein at the foot of Monte Pigna in the province of Roccaforte Mondovi in Piedmont while mining losa (the small, flat rocks after which Lurisia is named) in a shaft. Famous scientists, including the Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie, examined the water and confirmed its unique purity.
Since 1940 the water from the S. BARBARA DI LURISIA source - untreated and unfiltered - has been bottled and sold.
In memory of the unknown miner, whose discovery made the use of the wonderful springs possible in the first place, a small red figure of a miner still serves as a symbol for the LURISIA brand today.
Even before the miner brought the source to light and science could assess the beneficial quality of its properties, the popular observation was that "Lurisia l'acqua ogni piaga lava" means that Lurisia water washed away every wound. In fact, all the people of Lurisia knew that this water had a remarkable but inexplicable effect on skin healing.
