The Flensburg glacier spring.
Our brewing water was created during the last ice age 10,000 years ago, when Scandinavian glaciers covered all of northern Germany. As they melted, they left behind deep layers of rock beneath the brewery site, which have protected the crystal-clear water from environmental influences for several thousand years. The water bubbles up artesian, i.e. under its own power, from the two wells, which are up to 240 meters deep and are registered in the well register under the names Flensburg Glacier Spring 1 and Flensburg Glacier Spring 2.
As a “natural mineral water”, the water from the Flensburg Glacier Spring naturally meets the strictest requirements of the German Mineral Water Ordinance.
It is obvious that this delicious water is not only used for brewing beer in Flensburg, but some of it is bottled in swing-top bottles to quench the thirst of a growing following.

Since 1888, the Flensburg plop has been a good thing. But hardly anyone knows how much technology lies behind it. In the last ten years alone, we have invested more than 50 million euros in product innovations and equipment at the Flensburg brewery. Environmental protection is also at the heart of all our activities. This is also the case with our new swing top, which has reached a top level in line with our ever-increasing quality standards.

The promising sound of the Flensburg swing top creates anticipation of a delicious Flens in the brains of millions of FLENS drinkers worldwide. This is scientifically proven and can be confirmed by every FLENS fan. It is also no wonder that a Flens pops so uniquely. It is the composition of technical progress and the unique freshness that makes the legendary FLENS pleasure tangible for the ears too.
Practically everything was specially developed for the latest revision of the swing top cap. For example, the sealing material, the precisely shaped closure heads and the special production process. The reward for the effort: a significantly increased plop' rate, a longer shelf life due to minimized gas exchange and, incidentally, a record-breakingly loud, even fresher plop', which saves the environment the waste of 150 million bottle caps per year.
