BADOIT - French Bubbles of Joy since 1778

Badoit is a French mineral water brand sourced from natural springs in Saint-Galmier. The water is naturally carbonated as it travels through granite rocks and underground gas deposits.

An exclusive innovation in the premium water segment, high quality and unique in the German market. This exclusive water is combined with fine cuisine and wine in top French restaurants. Some also affectionately call it the "gourmet mineral water".

The history:

As early as 1778, Richard Marin de Laprade, court physician to Louis XVI, recommended the finely sparkling Badoit because of its appetite-stimulating and healing properties and ennobled it with the title of the champagne of waters. In 1838, the namesake Auguste Saturnin Badoit bought the spring in St-Galmier in order to then sell the digestive mineral water through pharmacies. By 1858, over 1.5 million liters of Badoit (7,000 bottles per day) had been sold. Thanks to its good reputation, Badoit gradually found its way into international top gastronomy. In 1971, Badoit became part of Evian. Today, Badoit is a product and brand of the Danone Group.

Only about 260 million liters are bottled each year, so this is essentially a rare water.

In 2019, Danone announced that Badoit was no longer available in Germany and the UK. As Badoit is a natural mineral water, the company is aware of the need to preserve the source and never extract more than nature can provide. The French region of Saint Galmier has experienced droughts in recent years that have affected the rate of groundwater recharge. Danone believed that the responsible approach was to reduce the amount of Badoit bottled and sold in order to protect the source for future generations.

Therefore, our exclusive stock is strictly limited.

The taste:

France's number 1 carbonated water is Badoit. It springs from the picturesque village of St-Galmier on the Loire and is one of the rare mineral waters that bubbles from the spring already slightly carbonated. The carbonic acid contained in Badoit is formed by combination and not by compression. Badoit is a very clear water, fresh and fine.

The sparkling carbonic acid content makes Badoit a very pleasant yet intense and unique taste experience. The small, very fine bubbles give the water a beautiful structure. Badoit is a substantial water, but despite its high mineral content, it has a very light taste. A positive effect on digestion and other beneficial properties are due to the strong, natural hydrogen carbonate content.

Its fine sparkling carbonation invigorates the senses and enriches the taste of the finest ingredients, says THIERRY MARX, chef at Mandarin Oriental Paris.

As an insider tip of French haute cuisine, Badoit has been an integral part of the true savoir vivre from Paris to St. Tropez for many years.

Badoit does not specify nitrate levels, but independent tests have shown less than 5 mg/l.

Ich habe zum ersten Mal Wasser probiert. Feine Bläschen unterstreichen den interessanten Geschmack. Sicherlich nicht das letzte Mal, dass sie auf dem Tisch landete
