EVIAN | Edition vintage Courreges 2012
For the Limited Edition 2012, André Courrèges was once again a cult designer from France. As an in-label in the 1960s, Courrèges revolutionized women's fashion by introducing the mini to Parisian haute couture. The "evian" special edition 2012 is adorned with an elegant decor of white and pink flowers - a pattern typical of Courrèges, which also suits the premium mineral water superbly.
With a combination of white and pink fluorescent flowers, she draws everyone's attention. The classic evian glass bottle was designed for 2012 by courrèges. The French fashion label is thus taking on the legacy of fashion greats such as Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Paul Smith and Issey Miyake, the creators of the previous Design Editions. For the 5th time, evian is launching a limited design bottle in cooperation with a well-known designer.
The brands courrèges and evian share a very similar philosophy: age is a question of attitude towards life and a youthful way of thinking paired with optimism are the most important ingredients for a happy life. Label founder André Courrèges is pursuing a major goal with his creations: "Every woman who immerses herself in the world of courrèges should be immediately overwhelmed by a wave of optimism." The style of the haute couture icon was particularly popular in the 1960s avant-garde. His designs were influenced by modern architecture and space travel. Characteristic of his unconventional "hard chic" are therefore constructed cuts, unusual materials and geometric shapes. The emblematic flowers, which can also be seen on the new design bottle from October, were already part of various collections in Courrège's early days. His creations are intended to encourage people to break with established conventions - in line with the evian "live young" slogan, with which the world's most drunk mineral water brand calls for a youthful way of thinking and living.
When designing the new evian bottle, courrèges has remained true to its principle - the result is a bright eye-catcher. A futuristic flower motif in the typical courrèges style adorns the new design bottle. Absolute eye-catcher: The lettering and one of the flowers are in fluorescent "organic pink", so that they form a strong contrast to the remaining flowers in "mineral white". The clean lines of the decor reflect the purity and clarity of the famous French mineral water. Through the cooperation with courrèges, the cult brand evian has succeeded in creating a symbiosis between modern, young design and naturally pure water.
The edition is limited.
Andre Courreges
André Courrèges was born on March 9th, 1923 in Pau, France and became known especially in the 1960s for his futuristic designs and his "hard chic". After studying civil engineering and bridge construction, he moved to Paris at the age of 25. There he worked for the Spanish designer Balenciaga, among others, whom he assisted for eleven years. In 1961 he opened his own studio together with his future wife. Courrèges wanted to use his fashion to help women become more youthful and change their lives in a positive way. This is how he managed to make the previously frowned upon miniskirt – designed by the Londoner Mary Quant – socially acceptable and brought it onto the haute couture catwalks.
