ROI Roitschocrene — The Legend from Slovenia since 1647
There is no comparable water on this planet. That is not marketing. That is geology.
ROI comes from Rogaška Slatina in eastern Slovenia, a location at the intersection of three major geological structures: the Alps, the Dinaric Alps, and the Pannonian Basin. This unique tectonic configuration creates the conditions for what ROI is: the most magnesium-rich natural mineral water in the world.
The History
The spring itself is over 8,000 years old. Written records date to around 1300, when the spring water was already known for its health-promoting properties. In 1572, Leonhard Thurneysser presented the first chemical analysis in his work Pison.
The mythology runs even deeper: according to legend, the winged horse Pegasus struck the earth in Rogaška at Apollo's command, opening the spring. Apollo declared: "Here springs the source of health and the true power of the gods."
In 1665, Count Petar Zrinski drank the water while hunting — his miraculous recovery led him to introduce ROI to the entire European royal family. In 1680, Dr. Paul de Sorbait, court physician to Emperor Leopold I, examined the water and described it in his Praxis Medicae, calling it "The God Potion." In 1687, Joannes Benedict Gründel wrote the first and only monograph on a single water in Europe — naturally, it was about ROI.
By 1774, ROI was so sought-after that counterfeits appeared on the market. Empress Maria Theresa decreed that every bottle from Rogaška must bear the year of bottling and an annually changing symbol. Prices were published in Viennese newspapers. That is royal quality control.
In 1893, ROI received a quality medal at the World Exhibition in Chicago — named the third best water in the world, alongside Selters and Vichy.
"As with wine, it is not only the qualities that one can perceive, but also the history."Michael Mascha, Founder of the Fine Water Society
The Source
The springs of Rogaška Slatina sit at the heart of Slovenia's most tectonically diverse region. The oldest rock layer dates to approximately 285 million years ago. At a depth of 300 meters, this unique geological system enriches the water with magnesium, calcium, sulfates, and bicarbonates. Radiocarbon dating estimates the age of the artesian spring water at around 8,000 years. It rises to the surface without pumps — driven by the carbon dioxide it contains.
In 1721, Emperor Charles VI granted the Vienna Pharmacists' Association the concession to use the spring. In 1803, Ferdinand Attems purchased the land around the springs and founded the spa town — today known as the Rogaška Spa Resort.
The Health
ROI works differently depending on how you drink it: fast and warm to accelerate intestinal activity, slow and cool to increase mineral absorption. Since magnesium regulates the entire nervous and muscular system, the world's most magnesium-rich mineral water is an ideal complement to a demanding lifestyle — in moderation.
"Think about it — way more electrolytes than Gatorade. But straight from Mother Nature."Martin Riese, World's leading water sommelier
The Taste
ROI carries one of the highest TDS values of any bottled water on the planet. Its enormous mineral content delivers a distinctive, voluminous, and rich taste — the elements in harmonious balance, easily absorbed by the body in soluble form.
"This is strong water."Evan Chang, Buzzfeed
"ROI is like a cognac for me. I always call it the Big Boy."Martin Riese
The Design
With the renaming from Roitschocrene to ROI in 2011 came a new design philosophy. Since then, the brand has received prestigious awards from the Fine Water Society and other institutions year after year — for both design and taste.
Exclusivity
ROI is available exclusively through FINE LIQUIDS in Germany and Europe. Production is strictly limited to protect the source.

A water with no equal
ROI comes from Rogaška Slatina in eastern Slovenia — a region shaped by the convergence of the Alps, the Dinaric Alps, and the Pannonian Basin. This extraordinary tectonic setting, combined with rock layers up to 285 million years old, creates the conditions for something unique: the most magnesium-rich natural mineral water on the planet. The spring itself is over 8,000 years old. The water rises from a depth of 300 meters without pumps, driven by its own natural carbonation. It has been documented since 1300, analysed since 1572, and coveted by European royalty since the 17th century. Time is what makes ROI what it is.
A taste unlike any other
ROI has one of the highest TDS values of any bottled water in the world — 7,481 mg/l. That is not a number to be afraid of. It is the reason ROI tastes the way it does: voluminous, mineral-rich, with a depth and complexity that sets it apart from the first sip. The magnesium content alone — 1,300 mg/l — is higher than any other naturally occurring mineral water. Drink it slowly. Drink it at room temperature. Let it open up. ROI rewards attention.
A bottle with a history of its own
The ROI bottle carries the solar emblem — a reference to the Sun King, Louis XIV, and the centuries of royal patronage that shaped this water's reputation. The gold detailing is not decoration for its own sake. It is the continuation of a tradition that began before most brands existed. Available as a single bottle, as a single bottle with gift box, and in packs of 6 and 12. The gift box makes ROI one of the most distinctive presents for anyone who takes what is in their glass seriously.
