Naturell
Selters is a German mineral water that has been bottled for more than 800 years from the mineral fountain of the same name in the Hessian town of Selters in the Taunus mountains. The well is known for its mineral-rich water, which is considered one of the best mineralized waters in Europe.
The history of Selters Mineralbrunnen dates back to the year 815, when the fountain was first mentioned. Even then, the water was prized for its high mineral content. In the 18th century, it became the favorite drink of European kings and nobles, and Goethe, who lived near Selters, also raved about the mineral water.
Today, Selters naturell is extracted from a depth of 150 meters and is considered one of the best protected mineral water deposits in Germany. The water is naturally rich in calcium, magnesium, sodium and hydrogen carbonate and has a unique mineral composition.
The benefits of Selters naturell lie in its natural mineralization. Calcium and magnesium are important minerals for the body and help to maintain healthy bones and teeth. Sodium is an electrolyte that plays an important role in regulating the water balance and hydrogen carbonate can help to regulate the pH value in the body.
Naturally still and non-carbonated, SELTERS Naturell is an excellent accompaniment to laid tables or to wine and coffee. Its subtle mineralization rounds off the strong taste of strongly seasoned dishes, for example.
SELTERS NATURELL is an ideal wine companion, allowing powerful white and red wines matured in barriques with pronounced acidity to come into their own.
Classic
Selters classic is a carbonated mineral water that has been produced by Mineralbrunnen Selters in the Taunus region for over 150 years. The mineral water is known and appreciated all over the world.
The village of Selters takes its name from the Celtic word for spring, Saltarissa. The naturally carbonated water, one of the oldest brands in Europe, was sold in pioneering stone jugs until the spring largely dried up in the 19th century. In 1896, a 305 m long artesian well was drilled to restore the water supply. This well was named Auguste Victoria after the German empress of the same name. The stone jugs of the past served as a model for today's remarkable blue bottle.
The history of the clay bottles from the Selters mineral spring dates back to 1820. Back then, the bottles were first produced by the pharmacist Carl Friedrich Naumann, who had taken over the mineral fountain in Selters. The bottles were unique in their shape and became the trademark of the Selters mineral spring due to their robustness and durability.
